{"id":55,"date":"2007-05-17T18:14:50","date_gmt":"2007-05-17T08:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helms-deep.net\/~rwh\/blog\/beer\/?p=55"},"modified":"2023-02-23T09:32:55","modified_gmt":"2023-02-22T23:32:55","slug":"sierra-nevada-pale-ale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helms-deep.net\/~rwh\/blog\/beer\/?p=55","title":{"rendered":"Sierra Nevada Pale Ale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Recipe supplied by:<\/strong>Recipe formulation using info provided by the fine folks at Sierra Nevada Brewery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 kgs Coopers Light Malt Extract<\/li>\n<li>450 g Coopers Light Dry Malt Extract<\/li>\n<li>225 g 60\u00b0L (160\u00b0EBC) Crystal Malt<\/li>\n<li>115 g Carapils Malt<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp Irish Moss<\/li>\n<li>28 g Perle Leaf Hops (20 min)<\/li>\n<li>14 g Perle Leaf Hops (15 min)<\/li>\n<li>28 g Cascade leaf Hops (2 min)<\/li>\n<li>28 g Cascade Leaf Hops (steeped)<\/li>\n<li>1 vial White Labs California Ale Yeast (WLP001)<\/li>\n<li>Coopers Carbonation Drops (priming)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Steep Crystal and Crapils malts in 65-82\u00b0C brewing water (amount of water determined by the size of your pot) for 15-20 minutes. Then remove.<\/li>\n<li>Mix in Coopers Light Malt Extract, Coopers Light DME and 28g Perle hops. Bring to very light boil.<\/li>\n<li>Add 2nd addition of Perle hops and Irish Moss with 15 minutes remaining in boil. Add 1st addition of Cascade hops with 2 minutes remaining in boil. Add last addition of Cascades at end of boil.<\/li>\n<li>Cool wort in pot to room temperature. Transfer into fermenter.
